(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced that the voting period for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election began today.
“As a convenience to our residents, voters from any precinct in the county are invited to visit one of our three Vote Centers to cast a ballot or drop off a voted mail ballotduring the early voting period,” stated Church. “Additionally, there are 56 Official Ballot Drop Box locations available throughout the County to return voted ballots.”
The three Vote Centers open are located at:
- San Mateo Registration & Elections Division, 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
- Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, 555 County Center, 1st Floor, Redwood City
- Library - Parks & Recreation Center, 901 Civic Campus Way, South San Francisco
Hours of operation for the Vote Centers are weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., February 5 through February 23. Weekend hours and additional Vote Centers will be available beginning Saturday, February 24.

Vote by Mail Ballots Mailed
Official Ballot packages began arriving in the mail to some of the more than 434,000 San Mateo County voters on Saturday. Ballots for approximately 5,000 registered voters serving in the military and County residents living overseas were sent in January.
Voted ballots can be returned by mail in the postage-paid envelope included in every Official Ballot package. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by March 5, 2024, and received by Tuesday, March 12, 2024, to be accepted.
Registered voters can confirm their current registration status online at smcvote.gov by clicking on the “My Election Info” button. Voters are encouraged to check “My Election Info” to confirm when the Registration & Elections Division received their voted ballot. Ballot tracking information can be sent via email, text, or voice call by signing up at wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov.
Voters may also call the Registration & Elections Division to confirm their ballot has been received and accepted. A toll-free hotline, 888.SMC.VOTE (888.762.8683), provides multilingual assistance.
