(Redwood City, CA) On September 30, San Mateo County will begin mailing a Sample Ballot and Voter Information Pamphlet to registered voters.  Voters participating in the Go Green! program will receive their Sample Ballot and Official Voter Information Pamphlet in digital format by downloading it from www.shapethefuture.org.

The Sample Ballot pamphlet is an important resource for voters to help prepare them for the election.  It includes:

  • Information about candidates and measures on the ballot
  • The voter’s assigned polling place location
  • A Vote By Mail Application
  • Information about the Go Green! program

“I encourage voters to review the Sample Ballot carefully, mark their selections and bring it with them to the polls as a guide,” said Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Mark Church.  “Going to the polls prepared will help speed up the voting process, whether voting early or on Election Day,” he added.

“Voters can find the location of their polling place printed on the back cover of the Sample Ballot.  Polling places are occasionally relocated after the printing of the Sample Ballot due to unforeseen circumstances.  Accordingly, voters are encouraged to double-check their polling place location by contacting our office or visiting our website,” Church advised.

The Federal Voting Rights Act ensures that all voters have language accessible election information.  Voters who favor Chinese or Spanish language election materials may request them at the time they register to vote or at anytime thereafter.

Visually impaired voters may request a copy of the county’s Sample Ballot and Official Voter Information Pamphlet on audiotape by calling the Registration & Elections Division at 650.312.5222.

Detailed information about the state candidates and propositions is available in the State’s “Official Voter Information Guide” pamphlet.  The “Official Voter Information Guide” is prepared by the California Secretary of State’s Office and is mailed by the State to households with registered voters.  Additional information is available at www.sos.ca.gov.

For more information about the November election, visit the Registration & Elections Division website, www.shapethefuture.org or call 650.312.5222.
