(Redwood City, CA) Interested in running for public office? The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is offering two opportunities to learn about the procedures and deadlines for candidates running for office or considering a run for office in the upcoming June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election. A separate seminar will address voter and election data available to candidates in their bids for office. All seminars will take place at the Elections Division facility in San Mateo.
“During the candidate seminars, elections staff will provide interested parties with an overview of the candidate filing process,“ explained Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. “We are also excited to introduce NetFile, an online system for filing campaign finance disclosure reports that will allow the public immediate access to campaign finance documents through our website at www.shapethefuture.org under Candidates and Campaigns.

- Required forms
- Candidate statements
- Voter registration guidelines
- Requirements for campaign signs
“The seminars cover information that first-time candidates as well as current officeholders will find useful," said Church. "The voter data seminar provides candidates and campaigns with information on the various registered voter data reports available, how to obtain them and how much they cost.“
Seminars will be held at the Elections Division, 40 Tower Road in San Mateo:
- Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. or
- Thursday, Feb.18, 2016 at 10 a.m.

- Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at 2 p.m.

Attendees are asked to provide their name, which seminar date they plan to attend and the number of persons attending. All seminars are open to the public.
June 2016 Election will have Traditional Voting Opportunities
Unlike the November 2015 All-Mailed Ballot Election, the June 2016 Presidential Primary Election is a traditional election with neighborhood polling places for most county residents. Voters will be assigned a specific polling place that will be indicated on the back cover of the Sample Ballot and Official Voter Information Pamphlet and listed on our website www.shapethefuture.org under Access My Election Materials. Voters who live in precincts with less than 250 voters will be sent a Vote by Mail ballot.
Only voters who are permanently signed up to vote by mail or who request a ballot for the June 7, 2016 election will be mailed a ballot on May 9. Voters may request a ballot online at Access My Election Materials, starting April 28, or by completing the request form included in the county Sample Ballot Pamphlet. Voters can also choose to vote by mail permanently by completing the online application form.
