Appraisal Services Division

Effective April 7, 2021, the Appraisal Services Division will be available to serve the public at the “Duty Desk” on an appointment only basis. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Face coverings are required, and social distancing will be enforced. Appointments can be made online at https://appts.smcacre.org/qmaticwebbooking/#/.

County Clerk-Recorder Division

Effective October 1, 2020, the County Clerk-Recorder Division is open to the public on an appointment only basis. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Face coverings are required, and social distancing will be enforced. Online Services Include:

Wedding Ceremonies
The County Chapel is closed. Civil Wedding Ceremonies will continue to be held through video conferencing via Microsoft Teams. Please email CountyClerk@smcacre.org with your name and phone number to schedule an appointment. A member of the County Clerk-Recorder’s Office will be contacting you for further assistance.

Marriage Licenses
Marriage licenses will continue to be offered online in addition to in-person appointments.

E-Recordings
Electronic recordings by title companies will continue as usual. Documents can also be mailed to the office at 555 County Center, First Floor, Redwood City, CA 94063.

Registration & Elections

All services provided by the Registration & Elections Division remain available. Voters can mail their voter registration card or register online, and are able to make an appointment if they wish to submit a petition. Voters who require direct assistance may contact the Elections Division by phone or text at 650.312.5222, email at registrar@smcacre.org or utilize the Elections Live Chat feature.

The Registration & Elections Division at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo, CA, will serve as the sole Vote Center for the May 4, 2021 Portola Valley School District Special Mail Ballot Election.

Hours of operation for voting beginning on April 5 are as follows:

  • Monday, April 5, 2021, through Monday, May 3, 2021;
    8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Weekdays) 
  • Tuesday, May 4, 2021 (Election Day) 
    7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
