Williamson Act Land Conservation Program
In accordance with the Williamson Act, the Assessor is required by law to appraise land restricted by a land conservation contract on the basis of current economic rent. In order to appraise land by this method, it is necessary for the Assessor to request current data on income, rentals, expenses and production for the particular type of operation involved.
Each year, the San Mateo County Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder’s Office, Assessor Division mails the Agricultural Preserve/Williamson Act questionnaire to eligible property owners to assist in the discovery of this information. Per Revenue and Taxation Code Section 441(d), the property owner is required to furnish the Assessor, within a reasonable time frame, with the relevant data necessary for an accurate appraisal. We kindly ask that each property owner complete and return the questionnaire by March 2, 2021.
