(Redwood City, CA) Chief Elections Officer Mark Church announced that La Honda Pescadero Unified School District and Portola Valley Elementary School District both submitted resolutions to conduct special all mail ballot elections on May 7, 2013.  Both districts are asking their district’s voters whether or not they are in favor of renewing existing parcel taxes.

Individuals interested in filing Primary Arguments in favor and against these measures have until 5:00 p.m. on February 15th to submit them to the Elections Division at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo.  At that time, the 10-day public review period for primary arguments will open and remain open until 5 p.m. on Monday, February 25th.

“The purpose of this 10-day public review period is to allow the public to review the primary arguments submitted for publication in the Sample Ballot & Official Voter Information Pamphlet.” said Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder.  During the 10-day public review period, any voter of the jurisdiction in which the election is being held may seek a writ of mandate (an injunction) requiring any or all of the materials to be amended or deleted.  The Writ of Mandate request shall be filed no later than the end of the review period.

The ballot questions, text of the measures, impartial analyses prepared by the County Counsel’s Office, the arguments in favor and against and the rebuttal arguments in favor and against are published on the Elections web site, at www.shapethefuture.org, as soon as it is permissible by law.
