(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced the opening of the candidate filing period for the November 8, 2022 Statewide General Election.
For candidates seeking elected office, the filing period opens at 8 a.m. on July 18 and closes at 5 p.m. on August 12. For offices without eligible incumbents seeking re-election, the candidate filing period is open for an additional five (5) calendar days and closes at 5 p.m. on August 17. Candidates may file in person or provide our office a written request to receive candidate filing documents electronically.
Persons interested in serving their communities in an elected office should contact our office via email at CandidateServices@smcacre.org to make an appointment to review the steps, forms, and requirements to run for office.
Candidates for Federal, State and County offices were selected through the June 7, 2022 Statewide Direct Primary Election. City candidates should obtain and file their documents at their City Clerk’s Office.
