Voting Period Begins Monday, October 5 for the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election
Three Vote Centers to Open Throughout the County and Vote by Mail Ballots are Mailed to Voters

(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced that the voting period for the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election will begin Monday, October 5, 2020.

“As a convenience to voters during the early voting period, voters from any precinct in the county are invited to visit one of our three Vote Centers to cast a ballot or drop off a voted mail ballot,” said Church.

Vote Center locations open October 5:

  • San Mateo Registration & Elections Division, 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
  • Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, 555 County Center, 1st Floor, Redwood City
  • South San Francisco Main Library, 840 West Orange Avenue, South San Francisco

Until October 30, Vote Centers operate on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All Vote Centers will be closed on Monday, October 12, for Columbus Day.

On Saturday, October 31, an additional 42 Vote Centers will open. A full list of Vote Center locations can be found online at www.smcvote.org and select “Vote Center Locations.”

Hours of operation for all Vote Centers beginning October 31 are as follows:

  • Saturday, October 31, 2020, through Monday, November 2, 2020
    9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Daily)
  • Tuesday, November 3, 2020 (Election Day)
    7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Vote by Mail Ballots Mailed

The first week of October is also when Vote by Mail ballots are expected to arrive in the mail to registered voters in San Mateo County. Voters can confirm their current registration status online at www.smcvote.org by clicking on the “My Election Info” button.

Voters are encouraged to check the status of their ballot by signing up for alerts at any of the links below:

  1. “Where’s My Ballot?” from when it is sent to you until it is received and counted. Sign up at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov
  1. My Election Info on www.smcvote.org to confirm when the San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division received and accepted your voted ballot.

Voted ballots can be mailed in the POSTAGE-PAID ENVELOPE provided. Mailed ballots postmarked on or before Election Day, November 3, 2020 will be accepted if received by November 20, 2020.
