(Redwood City, CA) On Tuesday, October 22, 2019, Conditional Voter Registration will commence for all Vote Centers in San Mateo County, continuing through Election Day. This process allows voters who have missed the October 21 registration deadline to conditionally register and cast their provisional ballot immediately afterward at any County Vote Center. Once the Registration & Elections Division processes the affidavit of registration, determines the individual’s eligibility to register, and validates the individual’s information, the registration ceases being conditional and becomes permanent, and the voter’s ballot is counted.

Vote Centers currently open from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. on weekdays and are located at:

  • Registration & Elections Division, 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
  • Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, 555 County Center, 1st Floor, Redwood City

Two additional Vote Centers will open on Saturday, October 26, with an additional 14 Vote Centers opening on Saturday, November 2.  All 18 Vote Centers will be open through Election Day.

The November 5, 2019 Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election will be the third election San Mateo County conducts under the California Voter’s Choice Act model. Traditional polling places have been replaced by Vote Centers, which will be open for voting more days and will offer expanded voter services including voter registration, multilingual assistance, and disabled access voting options. Every registered voter, in a jurisdiction holding an election, will receive a Vote by Mail Ballot, which can be returned with no postage required in any mailbox or ballot drop box located throughout the county.
