The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is hiring for the November 6, 2018 Statewide General Election. Four categories of job openings are now accepting applications:
1. Election Materials Spanish and Chinese Proofreader
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in proofreading, editing, journalism, translating, literature or other related field; technical writing certificate or other related certification; at least one-year experience proofreading documents and/or translating in English, Spanish, or Chinese; and a professional background in proofreading, editing, journalism, translating, creative or technical writing, or other related field.
2. Election Vote Center Representative (Extra-Help, Seasonal)
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, or phone services and 1 year of computer experience. The position requires basic addition and subtraction. Vote Center Representatives must be proficient in the operation of a computer and computer software and applications.
3. Election Worker – Office Assistant (Extra-Help, Seasonal)
Ideal clerical support and customer service candidates will have a minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, phone services, or computer experience. Outreach services candidates will have strong public speaking abilities and are bilingual in at least one of the above listed languages. Voting equipment candidates will have attention to detail and be able to lift and carry materials weighing more than 50 pounds. Office assistants able to work multiple elections are preferred. Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. These positions may require weekend and evening work assignments.
4. Election Worker – Office Specialist (Extra Help, Seasonal)
Ideal vote center tech support candidates will have computer experience and have attention to detail. Vote center trainer candidates will have strong public speaking abilities, computer proficiency, and previous knowledge of vote center procedures and the live vote center application.
