(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced that the voting period for the March 7, 2017 Menlo Park City Elementary School District Special Election will begin February 6, 2017.

“As a convenience to voters during the early voting period, voters from any precinct in the county may come to our Voting Center to cast a ballot or drop off a voted mail ballot,” Mr. Church stated. “The voter may choose to vote using the eSlate electronic voting machine or on a paper ballot.”

The Voting Center, located at the Registration & Elections Division office at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo, will be open from February 6 through March 6 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, March 4, the Voting Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Election Day, March 7, the Voting Center and polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

February 6 also marks the first day that Official Ballots will be mailed to permanent Vote by Mail voters, voters who have requested a Vote by Mail ballot just for the special election and voters who live in all mail ballot precincts.

Individuals interested in voting by mail can find an application online at www.shapethefuture.org under “Access My Election Materials.” Registered voters may request a ballot by mail until February 28, 2017.

Voters are encouraged to use the “Track and Confirm” tool on shapethefuture.org to verify when ballot materials were mailed and when the Registration & Elections Division received their voted ballot.

Voted mail ballots can only be accepted if they are postmarked on or before Election Day and received by Friday, March 10, 2017. On Election Day, voted mail ballots may be dropped off until 8:00 p.m. at the Voting Center or any active polling place in the Menlo Park City School District.
