Three Vote Centers to Open, and Ballots Mailed to Voters

(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced that the voting period for the September 14, 2021, California Gubernatorial Recall Election will begin Monday, August 16, 2021.

“As a convenience to voters during the early voting period, voters from any precinct in the county are invited to visit one of our three Vote Centers to cast a ballot or drop off a voted mail ballot,” Church stated.

Vote Center locations open Monday, August 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • San Mateo Registration & Elections Division, 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
  • Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, 555 County Center, 1st Floor, Redwood City
  • South San Francisco Main Library, 840 West Orange Avenue, South San Francisco

The three Vote Centers will be open on weekdays through August. On Saturday, September 4, an additional five Vote Centers will open, providing a total of eight locations open for 11 days in a row. The additional Vote Centers will be located in Burlingame, Daly City, East Palo Alto, Half Moon Bay and San Carlos. These Vote Centers will be open daily, including weekends and Labor Day, Monday, September 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Saturday, September 11, an additional 12 Vote Centers will open for four days. The addresses for the 20 Vote Centers are online at www.smcvote.org and found by clicking “Vote Center Locations.”

From September 11 to September 13, the Vote Centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Election Day, September 14, Vote Centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Vote by Mail Ballots Mailed
On August 12, Vote by Mail ballots are expected to arrive in the mail to more than 440,000 registered voters in San Mateo County. The envelope, marked Official Ballot, will include the county’s Sample Ballot & Official Voter Information Pamphlet. Separately, you will receive a state Voter Information Guide. These resources can also be found online at www.smcvote.org and www.sos.ca.gov.

Voters can confirm their current registration status online at www.smcvote.org by clicking on the “My Election Info” button.

Voters are encouraged to check the status of their ballot by signing up for alerts at any of the links below:

  1. Signing up for alerts at “Where’s My Ballot?” for when your ballot is sent to you until it is received and counted. Sign up at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov. Alerts for ballots returned to Official Drop Boxes may not go out on the same day as deposited.
  2. My Election Info on www.smcvote.org to confirm when the San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division received and accepted your voted ballot.

Voted ballots can be mailed in the POSTAGE-PAID ENVELOPE provided. Mailed ballots postmarked on or before Election Day, September 14, 2021, will be accepted if received by September 21, 2021.
