One Voting Center will be open and Vote by Mail ballots will be mailed

(Redwood City, CA) “The early voting period for the May 5, 2015 San Carlos School District Special All Mail Ballot Election begins Monday, April 6 and continues through May 4, 2015,” announced Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. 

During the early voting period, eligible voters may visit the Registration & Elections Division at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo to cast their ballot or return a voted mail ballot. The office will be open weekdays Monday, April 6 to Monday, May 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Election Day, Tuesday, May 5, there will be extended office hours from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.      

Monday, April 6 also marks the first day that a packet containing a Vote by Mail ballot and the Official Voter Information Guide will enter the mail stream on their way to all registered voters eligible to participate in the May 5, 2015 election. The deadline for eligible voters to file a new or updated voter registration and to vote in this election is April 20. 

Vote by Mail voters may use the “Track and Confirm” tool on www.shapethefuture.org to verify when the ballot materials were mailed and when the Registration & Elections Division received their voted ballot.

Senate Bill 29, which went into effect on January 1, 2015, extends the deadline for returning vote-by-mail ballots. Now, voted mail ballot must be physically received no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, May 5, or postmarked by May 5, 2015 and received by May 8, 2015. Voters may mail in the voted ballot or deliver it in person to the Registration & Elections Division at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo or the San Carlos City Hall at 600 Elm Street, San Carlos.
