(Redwood City, CA) The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is offering seminars on candidate filing for potential candidates interested in running for office in the upcoming November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election. Candidates will also learn about purchasing and using voter and election data for campaigning and voter education. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our candidate seminars for the November 3, 2020 Presidential Election will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams.  Once you have signed up online, a meeting invitation with a link to the online seminar will be emailed to you. 

“I highly recommend that anyone interested in serving their community attend the seminars. Even if you have run for office before, these briefings will ensure your understanding of current laws, forms, reporting rules, and campaign management tips,” said Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. 

The Candidate Seminar will cover such areas as: 

  • Important filing deadlines 
  • Candidate filing documents 
  • Candidate statement 
  • Campaign finance reports 
  • Voter data reports 

The following are the dates and times for these two seminars:

Candidate Seminars (choose one session): 

Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 10 a.m. 
or 
Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 2 p.m. 

An RSVP is required to obtain access to the meeting. Reply online at www.smcacre.org/rsvp-candidateseminar or contact San Mateo County Candidate Services Supervisor, Michael Lui, at 650.312.5238. Attendees are asked to provide their name, the office they will be running for, which seminar date they plan to attend and the number of persons attending. All seminars are open to the public.
