(Redwood City) Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced that thirty-nine Vote Centers will be open beginning Saturday, June 2, 2018 and remain open through June 5 for the Statewide Direct Primary Election. Every city in San Mateo County will have at least one Vote Center, with larger cities having two or more.

Vote Centers Hours of Operation are:
- Saturday, June 2, 2018 through Monday, June 4, 2018
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Tuesday, June 5 (Election Day)
7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Completed ballots may be returned through USPS in the postage-paid envelope provided to all voters or placed in an Official Ballot Drop-off Box Location. Voters may also vote in person at any Vote Center.
Eligible residents who have not previously registered to vote, also have the option to conditionally register to vote and cast a provisional ballot at any Vote Center up through and including Election Day.
Voters are encouraged to use the “Track and Confirm” tool on www.smcacre.org to track when the Registration & Elections Division received their voted ballot. Voters can also confirm if their ballot was accepted and obtain a digital “I Voted” sticker.
The Registration & Elections Division offers a toll-free hotline, 888.762.8683, to provide assistance in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Filipino. A chat feature has recently been added to the Division’s website at www.smcacre.org.
New Election Model for June 5, 2018
The June 5, 2018 Statewide Direct Primary Election is the first election conducted under the California Voter’s Choice Act (VCA). The VCA will implement an All-Mailed Ballot/Vote Center election model, with every registered voter receiving a Vote by Mail Ballot through the mail. The voted ballot may be returned by mail, dropped off at any Vote Center or Ballot Drop-off Box located throughout the County. Return postage is pre-paid.
Vote Centers replace traditional polling places and are open for voting throughout the early voting period. Vote Centers provide expanded voter services such as voter registration, multilingual assistance and disabled access voting options.
