Public can receive email alerts as new results posted

(Redwood City, CA) San Mateo County will begin posting election results for the November 8, 2016 Presidential General Election on the Registration & Elections Division website www.shapethefuture.org, starting at 8:05 p.m. on election night. The site will be updated every half-hour until all precincts have been reported.

“It is essential to provide timely reporting of election results to candidates, proponents and opponents of propositions and measures, registered voters and to the public on election night,” said Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. “I urge all stakeholders to make note of the results release schedules and to utilize the convenient website tools and applications that are available for tracking updates online,” he added. 

The election results release schedule for election night is as follows:
8:05 p.m. – Vote by Mail Ballots
8:30 p.m. – Mail Ballot Precincts
9:00 p.m. – Voting Centers
9:30 p.m. and each half-hour until complete – Live Precinct Ballots

The post-election results release schedule is as follows:
Thursday, November 10 at 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday, November 15 at 4:30 p.m.
Friday, November 18 at 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, November 23 at 4:30 p.m.

Election results are available in the following formats on the Registration & Elections Division website, at the “Get Election Results” link:

  • “RaceTracker” web application allows the user to customize reports to: display all or just user-selected races; see percentage of the vote that has been reported; see which precincts have reported; and determine both percentages and raw vote totals from Vote by Mail ballots, Voting Centers, and/or Election Day precincts.
  • PDF format reports are printable for a paper record of the results at each reporting interval.
  • HTML format reports, designed for at a glance reviewing and scrolling of results.

Also, the website’s “Precinct Tracker” tool monitors the movement of voted precinct ballots from each polling place to the Registration & Elections Division Tally Room.

The Registration & Elections Division will send e-mail alerts to interested members of the public as new results are posted online. Requests can be made online by going to www.shapethefuture.org and clicking on the link “November 8, 2016 Presidential General Election” under “Current Elections” or by calling 650.312.5222.
