(Redwood City, CA) The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division today completed a manual recount of all votes cast in the November 2, 2021 Special Election for Woodside Measure A.

The recount resulted in an adjustment of one additional “No” vote for Measure A. The final vote count for Measure A “Yes” votes remains the same at 1,160 while the final count for “No” votes increased by one (1) to 1,156.

The ballot in question was previously counted as an “Undervote”. An “Undervote” occurs when a ballot is left blank or voter intent cannot be determined. During the recount process, it was determined that the voter did not properly mark the ballot in accordance with ballot instructions. This resulted in the ballot categorized as a blank ballot. Upon further review by the Recount Board, voter intent could be determined and the ballot was allocated as a “No” vote.

The recount did not change the final result of the Woodside Measure A Special Election. In accordance with state law, the cost of the recount will be paid by the requestor of the recount.
