Voters who miss the deadline may vote a Conditional Voter Registration provisional ballot

(Redwood City, CA) San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, Mark Church, announced today that Monday, October 23, 2017 is the deadline to register to vote in the November 7, 2017 Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election.

Registration Deadline Requirements To satisfy the deadline, the mailed registration card must be postmarked on or before October 23, or individuals may register online by midnight on October 23 by visiting the San Mateo County official elections website www.shapethefuture.org and clicking on “Register to Vote.”

Conditional Voter Registration (CVR) Voters who miss the deadline may come to one of the county’s three Voting Centers to complete a Voter Registration Form and be issued a Conditional Voter Registration (CVR) provisional ballot to vote on or before Election Day.

Voting Centers for the November Election:

  • 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
  • 555 County Center, 1st Floor, Redwood City
  • 840 West Orange Avenue, South San Francisco (South San Francisco Main Library)

Hours of operation for the three Voting Centers:

  • Tuesday, October 10 through Monday, November 6 (weekdays): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 4: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 7 (Election Day): 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to register to vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old by Election Day.

Those who are in prison or on parole for a felony conviction or declared mentally incompetent by the court are not eligible to vote.

Eligible individuals can register online by visiting www.shapethefuture.org or by completing a voter registration card available at the following locations:

  • Public Libraries
  • City and Town Halls
  • USPS Offices
  • Department of Motor Vehicles Offices
  • Any of the county’s three Voting Centers

Changes of Name, Address or Party Affiliation
Voters must re-register whenever they move to a new address, change their name or would like to change political party affiliation. Registered voters who re-register are updating their existing record and not creating a new one.

Eligible and registered voters can confirm their current registration status at www.shapethefuture.org by clicking on “Check My Registration.” The latest county registration statistics, updated weekly, are available under “Voter Registration.”
