(Redwood City, CA) San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, Mark Church, announced that October 24 is the deadline to register to vote in the November 8, 2016 Presidential General Election.

“It is essential that every eligible person is registered to vote in the November 8, 2016 Presidential General Election,” Mr. Church advised. “This election is of vital importance to our nation, to our neighborhoods and to our common future. Every ballot matters.”

Changes of Name, Address or Party Affiliation

Voters must re-register whenever they move to a new address, change their name or would like to change political party affiliation. Registered voters who re-register are updating their existing record and not creating a new one.

“Keeping our records current and accurate is critical to ensuring voters receive the correct voting information. The updates guarantee that individual voting rights are secure and that Election Day runs smoothly,” Mr. Church explained.

Confirming Current Registration Status

There is a link on www.shapethefuture.org that allows eligible and registered voters to confirm their current registration status. On the home page, click on “Check My Registration/Access My Election Materials/View My Voter Information Pamphlet.” Voters may also text the words “san mateo” to “2VOTE” to receive a link to check their voter registration.

The latest county registration statistics, updated weekly, are found at www.shapethefuture.org under “Voter Registration.”
