(Redwood City, CA) The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division will hold a manual tally of the votes cast on November 8, 2016 in the close Brisbane School District race for Governing Board Members. The manual tally process, a component of the election canvass, ensures the accuracy of the vote total before the final results are certified by the Chief Elections Officer. The public is welcome to observe the manual tally.

“The manual tally verifies the accuracy of the electronic count and provides further confirmation that the results are accurate,” said San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Mark Church. “A transparent, open manual tally process in close races reinforces voter confidence that our final, certified results are correct.”

The Chief Elections Officer will certify and publish the official results no later than December 8, 2016. The official certified results, known as the Statement of the Vote, can be found on www.shapethefuture.org.

The Manual Tally will be held at the Registration & Elections Division at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo on Thursday, December 1st starting at 8:30 a.m. Please call 650.312.5222 if you wish to observe, or follow @smcvote on Twitter for updates.
