(Redwood City, CA) The November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election is fast approaching, and the San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is seeking qualified candidates for a variety of election positions.

These positions will perform a variety of tasks ranging from assisting visitors at Vote Centers to testing election equipment and processing ballots. The positions include Vote Center Representatives, Student Vote Center Ambassadors, Election Materials Couriers, and Vote Center Volunteers.

If you know anyone who may be interested in working in the upcoming election, please refer them to our website at www.smcacre.org/election-workers.

Vote Center Representatives
San Mateo County will recruit a team of approximately 300 Representatives to operate 45 Vote Centers throughout the county for the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election. “Interest in presidential elections usually spurs more people to get involved as Vote Center Representatives,” said Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. We seek multi-lingual staff to work at our Vote Centers, particularly those who speak Spanish, Chinese, Burmese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Tagalog.

To become a Vote Center Representative, apply online at www.smcacre.org/election-workers under the Vote Center Representative tab. Vote Center Representatives must attend a two-day training that will include hands-on interaction with election technology and software used to issue ballots.

Vote Center Representatives will receive $21.02 per hour and work at a 4-Day Vote Center. This is a seasonal position that will end on November 3, 2020.

Student Vote Center Ambassador Program
In addition to Vote Center Representatives, San Mateo County Elections will also be recruiting 300 Student Vote Center Ambassadors to assist in the operation of Vote Centers on Election Day. Students will have to attend a three-hour training and will be provided information on their assigned Vote Center. They will earn $280 for their day of service and for attending training on the elections process. Plus, an additional $150 for an optional shift on Saturday, October 31, 2020.

Eligible students must be 16 years old or older, have at least a 2.5 GPA, be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S., and must obtain written permission from both a parent/guardian as well their school. Interested students should apply here: www.smcacre.org/student-democracy-program.
