Redwood City, CA –Chief Elections Officer Mark Church announced that the deadline to file Rebuttal Arguments in favor and against the local ballot measures and the Impartial Analyses prepared by the County Counsel or City Attorney(s) for the November 8, 2011 Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election is 5 p.m. on August 29. At that time, the 10-day public review period for rebuttal arguments will open and remain open until 5 p.m. on September 7.

“The purpose of this 10-day public review period is to allow the public to review the rebuttal arguments in favor and against primary arguments submitted for publication in the Sample Ballot & Official Voter Information Pamphlet,” said Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder.  During the 10-day public review period, any voter of the jurisdiction in which the election is being held, or the appropriate elections official, may seek a judicial writ of mandate (an injunction) requiring any or all of the materials to be amended or deleted.  The writ of mandate request shall be filed no later than the end of the review period. 

The Elections website (www.shapethefuture.org) publishes the full text of these filed materials, as they are filed:  Ballot questions, text of the measures, impartial analyses prepared by the County Counsel or the city attorney, the arguments in favor and against and the rebuttal arguments in favor and against, roster of candidates and related materials.
