(Redwood City, CA) San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, Mark Church, announced the opening of the Candidate Filing period for the November 4, 2014 Statewide General Election.

“San Mateo County’s success depends upon responsible leaders committing themselves to public service,” said Church.  The 25 jurisdictions with contests to fill governing board positions on the November 4, 2014 ballot include 8 cities, 11 school districts, and 6 special districts. 

For candidates seeking elected office, the filing period will open at 8:00 a.m. on July 14 and will close at 5:00 p.m. on August 8.  For offices without an eligible incumbent seeking re-election, the candidate filing period will be extended another five (5) calendar days and will close at 5:00 p.m. on August 13. 

“I encourage candidates who are interested in pursuing school or special district offices to call the Candidate Filing Officer, Jamie Kuryllo, at 650.312.5202 to make an appointment to review the steps in the process, the forms and the requirements for a successful filing,” Mark Church stated.  “Individuals running for municipal offices should contact their town or city clerk to make an appointment.”

School Districts

Board of Education, One each for Trustee Areas 1, 2 and 3: 4-year terms
Bayshore Elementary School District: One 2-year term, Three 4-year terms
Brisbane Elementary School District: Three 4-year terms
Cabrillo Unified School District: Three 4-year terms
Jefferson Union High School District: Three 4-year terms
La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District: Two 4-year terms
Las Lomitas Elementary School District: Three 4-year terms
Menlo Park City Elementary School District: Three 4-year terms
Pacifica School District: Three 4-year terms
Ravenswood City Elementary School District: Three 4- year terms
South San Francisco Unified School District: Three 4-year terms

Special Districts

Coastside Fire Protection District: One 1-year term
Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, One each for Wards 5 and 6: 4-year terms
North Coast Water District: Three 4-year terms
Peninsula Health Care District: Three 4-year terms
San Mateo County Harbor District: One 2-year term, Two 4-year terms
Sequoia Healthcare District: Three 4-year terms

Municipalities

Town of Atherton, City Council: Three 4-year terms  
Town of Colma , City Council: Two 4-year terms
