(Redwood City, CA) Chief Elections Officer Mark Church announced that the candidate filing period for the upcoming Coastside Fire Protection District Recall Election will be open from now until 5:00 p.m. on January 24, 2013.  As this is a recall election, the candidate filing period will not be extended.

On December 13th, Coastside Fire Protection District delivered a resolution calling for an election to the Chief Elections Officer.  This election is to determine if Michael Alifano, A. Douglas Mackintosh, and/or Gary Riddell, members of the Coastside Fire Protection District Board of Directors, shall be recalled from office.  If a majority of the recall vote is affirmative as to any of the three offices, the election shall also determine the successor(s) for the recalled seat(s) on the Board of Directors.
