(Redwood City, CA) Those interested in running for office in the June 3, 2014 Statewide Direct Primary Election have until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 to file all necessary paperwork with the San Mateo County Registration and Elections Division at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo.  The same deadline applies to local jurisdictions that intend to place a measure on the June ballot.

The candidate filing period for the Statewide Direct Primary Election opened on February 10, 2014 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on March 7, 2014.  The law provides candidates with a 26-day window in which to file necessary paperwork.  To date, numerous candidates have filed to run for federal, state and county offices.  The complete Roster of Candidates is posted online and updated every evening.  To view the roster, please go to www.shapethefuture.org/elections/2014/june.

If an eligible incumbent for an office does not file by 5:00 p.m. on March 7, the candidate filing period for that office will automatically be extended until 5:00 p.m. on March 12, 2014.  The eligible incumbent will not be able to file during the extended candidate filing period.  Only new candidates, who did not begin their filing during the candidate filing period, can file during the extension.
