(Redwood City, CA) The Registration & Elections Division will hold two candidate seminars and a voter data seminar for potential candidates running for office or considering a run for office in the upcoming June 3, 2014 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

“Traditionally, we offer candidate seminars to help candidates or interested parties to obtain information of the requirements to run for local office. Once the mechanics of running for office are understood, the filing process is no longer complicated,” explained Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. Topics covered will include campaign finance reports, the filing process, the calendar of applicable deadlines, required forms, candidate statements, voter registration guidelines, requirements for campaign signs, and various election resources, rules and regulations for campaign activities and how to access and use the voter registration data as allowed by law.

The schedule for the seminars is as follows:

Candidate Seminars (choose one session)

Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo

Voter Data Seminar

Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo

At the candidate seminar, elections staff will review the pertinent details and procedures that apply to candidates for local office,” said Church. “While, at the voter data seminar, candidates and campaign staff will learn about obtaining voter data and its many uses,” Church added.
