Voting Period Begins Tuesday, October 10 For the November 7, 2017 Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election
Three Voting Centers will be open and Vote by Mail ballots will be mailed

(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced that Monday, October 9, 2017 is the first day of the early voting period for the November 7, 2017 Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election.
“As a convenience, voters may come to one of our three Voting Centers to cast their ballot or drop off their voted mail ballot,” Church stated. “Those interested in casting their ballot during the early voting period have the option to vote on an electronic voting machine or by paper ballot at our Voting Centers,” he added.
Voting Centers are located at:
- 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
- 555 County Center, 1st Floor, Redwood City
- 840 West Orange Avenue, South San Francisco (South San Francisco Main Library)
Voting Centers Operation Hours are:
- Monday, October 9 (Closed on Holiday)
- Tuesday, October 10 through Monday, November 6 (weekdays): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, November 4: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Tuesday, November 7 (Election Day): 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The early voting period also marks the first day that Vote by Mail ballots will be sent out to those registered as permanent or one-time Vote by Mail voters in the county.
Individuals interested in voting by mail can find an application in the Sample Ballot & Official Voter Information Pamphlet, or online at www.shapethefuture.org. Registered voters may request a ballot by mail until October 31.
Vote by Mail voters may use the “Track and Confirm” tool on www.shapetehfuture.org to verify when the ballot materials were mailed and when the Registration & Elections Division received their voted ballot. The date voters receive their ballot depends on local mail delivery service. If a voter has not received their ballot by October 19, he or she should contact the Registration & Elections Division.
Voted mail ballots can be returned in one of the following ways:
- Mail your ballot in the POSTAGE-PAID ENVELOPE postmarked by November 7; and received by the Registration & Elections Division by November 13
- Drop off your ballots at our 24-hour ballot drop box at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo by 8 p.m. on Election Day
- Drop off your ballot at any City/Town Hall holding an election during business hours on or before Election day
- Drop off your ballot at one of the three Voting Centers during business hours before Election Day or from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day
- Drop off your ballot at any active polling place from 7 a.m. to 8.pm. on Election Day
October 23 is the last day to register to vote in this election. However, during the period of 14 days prior to Election Day, and on Election Day itself, an individual can conditionally register at any of the three Voting Centers, and cast a provisional ballot there.
