(Redwood City, CA) Chief Elections Officer Mark Church announced that San Carlos School District submitted a resolution to conduct a special all mail ballot election on May 5, 2015. The district is asking its voters whether or not they are in favor of renewing an existing parcel tax.
Individuals interested in filing a primary argument in favor or against this measure have until 5:00 p.m. on February 13 to submit their argument to the Registration & Elections Division at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo. At that time, the 10-calendar-day public review period for primary arguments will open and remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23.
“The 10-calendar-day public review period provides the public with an opportunity to review and challenge the language of the primary arguments before they are published in the Sample Ballot & Official Voter Information Pamphlet,” said Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. During the 10-calendar-day public review period, registered voters, who are eligible to vote on the measure, may seek a judicial writ of mandate or injunction requiring any or all of the materials to be amended or deleted. The request for a writ of mandate or injunction shall be filed no later than the end of the review period.
The ballot question, text of the measure, impartial analysis prepared by the County Counsel’s Office, the arguments in favor and against and the rebuttal arguments in favor and against are published on the Registration & Elections website, www.shapethefuture.org, as soon as it is permissible by law.
