Candidate Filing Closes Friday, August 7 for the Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election

(Redwood City, CA) Individuals interested in running for office in the November 3, 2015 Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election have until the close of business on Friday, August 7, 2015 to file all necessary paperwork. City candidates should check the hours of their city clerk’s office; all other candidates have until 5:00 p.m. to complete their candidate filing with the San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo. The same deadline also applies to local jurisdictions that intend to place a measure on the November ballot.
Candidates are provided a 26-day window in which to file all necessary paperwork under the law. To date, numerous candidates have filed to run for local offices in the 12 cities, 14 school districts, and 14 special districts holding a November election in San Mateo County. If an eligible incumbent for an office does not qualify as a candidate by the close of business on August 7, the candidate filing period will be extended another five (5) calendar days and will end at the close of business on August 12. The eligible incumbent will not be permitted to file during the extended candidate filing period.
